5 Mile Hike

1-21-16:  Explored the back country of South Llano River State Park today with George and Jerri.  And Lizzy!  Had a wonderful day for a 5 mile loop which included flatland, hills, canyons, plateaus, and prairie.

Before

Mr. Bill got him a hog

Saw this guy shortly after we got started up the trail to the primitive campground.

this canyon just past primitive campground, reminds us of a scene out of Arkansas

along the border of a private ranch

prickly pear much?

windmill and water trough

old sheepherder's cabin - this spot was super cool because I could actually get a little cell service

Lizzy is bringing Jerri on up the hill

David snapping a shot of the windmill

long stretch along private ranch border

we could see this plateau from afar on our First Day hike

hog damage

here come the boys
heading down one of the hills

and back up

Jerri, Lizzy, and George

Scrub Jay

David and I have been wanting to tackle this hill -- wasn't as bad as it looks, but I was happy to have my walking stick

After
Beautiful day with beautiful friends!

Here's to more hikes!
