Miss Lou and Miss-Lou

We have wrapped up our Texarkana stay by having Thanksgiving with Edith, Gus, Laura, and Mann. Very thankful Laura (Miss Lou) and Mann were able to come in and join us!  Now we are leaving the the Ark-La-Tex and heading for the Miss-Lou!  So sad to leave our peeps, but looking forward to new adventures on the historic Natchez Trace for the next 4 months!

Ethan Goff's "Fish" lost an arm
Laci sent me this pic of Ethan's sock animal I made him last Thanksgiving/Christmas.  I told her I was surprised it had stayed in one piece this long.  She said he sleeps with it at night!  How sweet.  I told her a needle and thread would take care of it.  "Now to find a needle and thread", she said.  She's my niecey!!

11-27-14 - Had a wonderful, sweet, and simple Thanksgiving at Edith's place!  David ordered Thanksgiving Dinner from The Flour Child in Texarkana, so all we had to do was heat 'r up!  It was yummy!  Texarkana Peeps, I'd def recommend that place! Loved spending a quiet autumn day with family!  Missed the Goff group and the McClintock group.  But enjoyed pix from the Goff's!

Tricia Goff shared this photo of my pop and her pop: Gerald on left and Jimmie on right

11-30-14:  Headed to Miss-Lou today.  Looking forward to a new area of the USA and workamping at historic Mt Locust on the Natchez Trace Parkway.  They call this area Miss-Lou because it's Mississippi and Louisiana all mixed together!  Kinda like the Ark-La-Tex is those 3 states mixed together.

Much Love & Happy December!

Catching Up and Shutting Out

#davidlovesselfies
We've enjoyed more family and friend time in Texarkana.  And some autumn-like weather!!  In fact one night we got a little snow!  But it was midnightish and I was snoring.  So, no pix.....but we know it happened! It was on facebook so it had to be true!

Remembering my favorite veteran -- Gerald Goff -- today on Veteran's Day
We are being photobombed by David and Rocky
Mindy and me
11-11-14:  Veteran's Day -- always grateful for these heroes.  Had lunch with my sweet friend and former coworker, Mindy Ogden.  It's been a couple of years since we have been able to visit.  Once I saw the pic of her beautiful children, I realized it may have been more like 4 years!  They're growing up!  David and Rocky dropped me off, so after lunch we asked a stranger to take our pic.  While she was snapping she said "let's move over so we don't get the photobomber in the background".  Turns out the photobomber was David and Rocky!

Rocky ready to set the pace

After lunch we went to Bringle Lake and enjoyed a short, brisk walk in some great fall temps!

Joseph Alexander Goff
11-12-14:  David, Gus, and I met some of the Goff's tonite at the new Big Jake's on Richmond Rd.  Really like the space and atmosphere here.  Loved seeing my Goff peeps!

James was engrossed in a Mickey Mouse movie through the whole meal
ran into Denise Webb there
Was glad to run into some of our LE friends there, too.  The Webb's came in as well as Bobby and Marilyn Buck.
Gus brought our little Chloe
Joseph woke up in time to get passed around
James Madison Goff and Uncle David -- everyone must have at least one nose-picking pic
Marlee Kay Goff helped give her cousin, Joseph his bottle
3 of my fave guys: Jakeb, Gus, and Nathan --- and Marlee Kay finally looked at the camera!
Chloe knows her way around a selfie
Us
Joseph's and Laci's faces were very similar
I just love being in Texarkana with family!

11-14-14:  Funny Rocky story:  We've had a stray German Shepherd hanging aroung the RV Park.  Seems like a young one and harmless.  David stepped out of the camper for a sec and before he knew what was happening, Rocky flew out of the camper and spotted that GS and took off after it!  Now Rocky is 12 yrs old and half-blind, but David said he was high-tailing after that dog and the dog was running from him as hard as he could.  Rocky ignored David's calls to stop and come back, so off David went following them.  The dogs found a hole in the fence and started running down a dirt road next to the rv park..........David behind them.  When David finally caught up, both dogs were just sniffing around on the grass like no big deal.  I knew something was up because I never hear David go down the steps that fast.  I thought about getting up to see about him.  I was knitting and just needed to "finish that row."

proud of our hogs this Veteran's Week
11-15-14:  Razorbacks beat LSU today 17-0!  It was a slightly snowy, very cold day in Fayetteville.  We watched this rare shut out from the warmth of our camper in Texarkana.  What an exciting game!

Gus rockin' the scarf I made him
11-16-14:  Kinda excited that Gus actually asked me to make him a scarf like the one I made for Jimmy.  Perfect timing because this week is cooooold!

Asher and Andrew playing in the snow
Although we mostly got cold, chilly temps, our grandsons had a very nice snow in Wichita!

Kay Rhodes and Lila Gentry
11-17-14:  My first knitting student!  Ok, well, I suck at teaching knitting.  But my good friend, Kay, was determined that I was going to teach her.  She soon realized that the videos I recommended will be the best route.  But what a great time we had visiting at the clubhouse at Shady Pines RV Park.

She's pretending that's the dishrag she knitted -- it's acutally one I had finished
but the start of hers is a heck of a lot better than my first try --- even my first 3 tries!
Kay and me
So glad I got to spend a little time with this dear friend. Her last name used to be Hooker............wouldn't that be a great name for a knitter?  Even better for a crocheter.

Henrietta Carrigan
11-18-14:  David and I made a quick stop in Lowe's on the way to the movies.  Turned out to not be so quick because we ran into one of our favorite friends and coworkers ever!  She seems super happy to be retired! What retiree isn't?

not gang signs, just a version of Peace sign
Picked up our movie buddy and the 3 of us went to see The Judge.  Really liked that movie!! That might be one of Robert Downy, Jr's best films.

Gus has a mighty nice scarf, don't ya think?
Edith and Spice
Enjoyed a visit with Edith this afternoon.  You'd never guess she's about to be 95, right?! Isn't she beautiful?

Lisa doesn't know how to make a serious face
Went out to Lisa's and Andy's tonite.  Lisa cooked a wonderful supper for us and we enjoyed a few tales from the past and a LOT of tales from her recent ghostbusting trips! Who ya gonna call? Love my bff!

midgets?
Lisa, is that a spirit's face in the clock?  Maybe Andy's aunt?  Did she look sorta like a ninja turtle?
Lisa and Uncle Andy
Lisa is rockin her highwaters
she found a pic from our SAU days (prob about 1977)
I remember that college pic like it was yesterday!  Which is odd because I usually can't actually remember yesterday!

Fun, full day and night!  Have I mentioned that I love being in Texarkana?

Goldenrod going to seed
I think it's nearly as beautiful as when it blooms
The birthday girl and me
11-21-14:  Enjoyed an evening out for Edith's 95th birthday! Jakeb, Lacey and the boys joined us.

Where's James?

So blessed with family I love!

Rocky is ready to call the hogs!
11-22-14:  Today we chillaxed at the camper and watched football.  We were still excited about last weekend's shutout against LSU.  This week is against Ole Miss and guess what?? ANOTHER SHUT OUT!! David read this was the first time in history and unranked team (our Hogs) shut out 2 ranked teams!

Marlyse look-alike
11-24-14:  Edith's niece and husband, Adrian and Jim, are in town for a couple of days.  Tonight we went to Applebee's.  As we were sitting there, the lady above came in and sat next to us.  I would've sworn is was my bestie, Marlyse.  I hollered "Hey Girlfriend" and she looked at me and said "hey how ya doing?".  I was kinda confused but realized it wasn't Marlyse because this lady's family was NOT Marlyse's family.  I felt like a goober.  But a few minutes later she said, "did you think I was a teacher from LE?".  As it turned out, everywhere she goes she get mistaken for Marlyse.  Made me feel a lot better!  She even knew Marlyse's name.  One funny story was getting a kiss on the cheek one day in Walmart from a young man that was a former student of Marlyse's.  LOL!  They need to check their family tree!

Clay Norsworthy and me
David and I ran into one of my HS friends today at Kohls.  He and David are bday buddies.

We are getting ready for Thanksgiving!  So excited to have some more family time. But our stay is quickly coming to an end.  The weekend after Thanksgiving we will be heading to Natchez, MS for the winter.  Looking forward to learning some more about the USA.  What a country!

Love and Thankfulness,

Uncle David, Aunt. B, and Brett
