T-Town, T-Ball, and a Birthday Boy

Lily in Kathey's and Cran's front yard

The first half of June has been full, fun, and fanstastic!  A fun, fun, fun birthday party for Andrew in Winfield, KS.  They have the best city playground there that we've ever seen.  It's been rebuilt a couple of times due to arsonists.  Around the time it re-opened in June, news reports about the capture and conviction of the last arsonist popped up.

A fantastic trip to T-town for my 40th HS reunion - Texarkana, Arkansas High School Class of 1974. Such a blessing to see so many of the folks I grew up with.  And we got to spend time with family and other friends, too!

A full ball schedule included a double-header from rainouts.  We enjoyed it.  The boys, not so much.  One game is plenty for them -- as a player or a spectator. LOL

6-7-14:  Great party at a great park with great people!  Rocky and I spent some time exploring the trails as the kiddos and other adults played on the playground.  Looking forward to going back and walking some of them.  Today it looked like snow was falling because of all the cottonwood!

date day at Edge of Tomorrow movie
6-10-14:  Date day with breakfast, mani, movie, and TJ's.  Couldn't convince David to get a mani, but he patiently waited for me to get one. The movie was sorta ok, tho I had a hard time staying awake. But TJ's impressed us both.  Great burgers in the Delano District that Greg and Linda Sue introduced us to a couple of years ago at a different location.  We finished off the day with a visit with Mac.  Delivered his flying pig to him since we're going to be gone on Father's Day.

Enjoyed the day with my man!  Seems like we find something new and different in Wichita every time we get out!

6-13-14:  Made it to T-town today for the reunion.  Had a wonderful day to be on the road.  We saw lots and lots of hawks, some healthy deer, tons of green, growing cornfields, and plenty of wildflowers in OK and TX. We got our 70's on by listening to the Sirus 70's channel most of the way.  David showed off his disco moves when the right songs came on!  Sure wish I coulda secretly recorded him!

Gus stopped by to see us before we headed out to the reunion
Is he handsome or what?

The reunion was awesome.  My blogpost called "40 Years Later" has more pix.

we ran into Jakeb, Lacey, and James on Father's Day at Cracker Barrel
James is super cool -- and his shirt says so
Lacey and David -- can't wait to meet little Joseph, who is due in a couple of weeks or so
Kathey looks so pretty in the shawl I made
Got to visit with Bill and Pam after church

Spice goes straight to David's lap each time we visit
Edith chose the pretty yellow summer shawl
Gus did a little strumming for us
It's just been so nice to be back in the land of abundant Magnolia and Mimosa trees, southern accents, and our T-town peeps! Looking forward to spending more time here this fall.

During Andrew's game, Asher sat in my lap and never stopped talking -- and it was ALL very interesting!
He's so smart!
Andrew ready for the coach to pitch the ball
cutest runner ever!
Asher's t-ball teammates having fun on the bench
Asher was fine with Grandpa taking his pic on base, but when Grandpa offered some game advice he said, "hey, this isn't your game, Mister"
wait for it, wait for it
Andrew did not like sitting through Asher's game after he'd played
he put on a quick selfie smile, tho
Asher played catcher for part of the game -- and sometimes climbed the fence behind him. He'd say:
"I wonder what I'm doing on this fence".  That boy is hilarious.
he had some fierce sound effects when he ran to base

Today is the "Longest Day".  Not only because of 3 baseball games, and not only because it's the 1st day of summer.  But because it's a special day of Alzheimer's awareness and folks were encouraged to wear purple.  I wore mine and got to Douglass and saw some more purple tops.  I think it's prob because that's the Douglass school color. :)

Looking forward to more adventures in the Heartland --- and wishing Wichita and Texarkana were a little closer to each other.

Til Next Time,

Yogi, Dottie, and Colavito
