Baby Girl and Dr. Grandpa

;

5-20-15:  Laura Lee arrived in Doo-Dah today to spend a little time with us.  So happy to see her and do some catching up!  Even Rocky was happy to see her........ tho seeing isn't his strong point any more due to cataracts.  Or dogaracts as Laura calls them. haha. She recently got a new job where she can work from home or wherever she is.  So here's hoping we'll get even more quality time with her!

5-21-15:  Mac was released from rehab a few days ago and we're so happy he's able to get around better!  In keeping with his Memorial Day tradition, David and I took him to all the family cemetery plots so he could decorate them.  That involved going to Clearwater and Anthony as well as a couple of Wichita cemeteries. We so enjoyed the morning with him!

check out what's showing at the movie
As we drove through the small town of Anthony, KS we saw an historical theater and look at what was showing a few days earlier!  Anthony is also the town where David and I found one of the "giant concrete arrows" last year.

Cousin Karen, the above pix are for you.  Mac said you were interested in seeing them.

Monkey Bars Happen

waiting to get casted

Mommy giving him a pep talk

After spending the morning with Mac, David and I went to the orthopedic center in Wichita to be there with Andrew as he got his cast on. He fell off the monkey bars during his last week of school and broke his arm.  Such a brave little guy today. And sweet! He offered to pay part of the co-pay when he and his mom arrived at the doc's. So much like his daddy when he was as a little boy!

first a "sleeve"

then some wrapping

Razorback Red, of course

Grandpa got to help

I think she's done this before

Andrew listened to her every word

and asked some great questions

piece of cake!
I didn't, I mean,  he didn't even cry!

Mommy and her brave son
Not only did we get to be there, but Grandpa got to assist the nurse! So proud of how bravely Andrew handled this!  He rocks!!

Laura and me
5-23-15:  Took Laura out to see Justin and the boys this afternoon.  They seemed to really love seeing their Aunt LouLou! And she got to sign the cast!

Asher and Laura

Asher is quite the entertainer

Andrew reading the book that his 5th grade "mentor" made for him

Aunt Lou and Andrew

Laura and Justin
We missed seeing Brooke, but happy Laura got to spend some time with her bro and nephews!

Austin
5-25-15:  Prayers to our fellow Texans as they endure some of the worst flooding in many years.  Especially in the Hill Country.  About 13 lives lost on the Blanco River at Wimberly.

Boo!  (this is how retired rv'ers act)

5-27-15:  Another 20,000 step day.  Woohoo!  As I was nearing the end of  my walk at dusk, I could see Jack's arms and legs under his truck as I approached.  It crossed my mind that maybe he was working on his truck.  But since I didn't see movement, I put it together --- he was going to try to scare me.  So I had my phone camera ready.  Kinda shocked him I think.  He said "what are you doing?"  Me?  What were YOU doing, Sunshine?

getting ready to play Panties at Greg and Linda Sue's

yum!
5-29-15:  Went to Greg and Linda Sue's for Panties this afternoon.  Laura went with us, tho she had to work while we played! AND, since Linda Sue made us try chocolate covered bacon once, I brought her some bacon flavored crickets from the nature center.  She did not want to try one, but finally ate a "drumstick".

love our baby girl

Enjoyed the card game, the visit, and supper at Abuelos afterword.

Andrew and Asher picking sunflowers at the rv park
5-31-15:  Laura left this morning for Texas. The Red River is flooding so badly that the bridge just north of Paris, TX was closed and she had to find an alternate route. That's pretty unusual for that bridge to be closed.  The boys spent tonight with us so that both of their parents could work tomorrow and they could hang with us.

the boys loved picking the wildflowers

and planned on giving them to their mom, roots and all
Winnie and Rocky

They took Rocky for his evening walk, too. We stopped at Jack and Debbie's site and Winnie was all dressed up. I think that got Rocky's attention!

Asher tried this form
6-1-15:  David and Greg played golf this afternoon so the boys and I found some other stuff to get into.  First we tried Watson Park.  But the rides were only open for groups until about 5:30.  Soooo, we drove over to Derby and tried some bowling.

and this

but stayed so frustrated because he just couldn't get his groove on

he was shocked to learn he beat big brother by 5 points

we requested a new lane for the 2nd game -- it had gutter fences

ta-da! that's more like it!

Andrew has a form like a pro -- in spit of a broken left arm!

the score was much better this game
I haven't been bowling in several years, I tried to refresh my memory on scorekeeping on the drive over and was VERY happy to learn that the score is kept automatically.

arcaders
We visited the arcade at the bowling alley after the games. I gave them each a little money to play and it was so fun to watch how they spent it.  One spent every bit almost immediately on one game.  The other was very careful and had $ to spread out over several games (reminded me of his daddy when he was a kid again). The one who was careful about his spending ended up with several prize tickets afterwards to redeem for a little prize. I think the other took mental notes for next time.

at Freddy's
Wrapped things up with a burger from Freddy's before headin back out to their house. Loved every minute of the day with these 2 firecrackers!  We are blessed with wonderful grandsons with the biggest hearts!!

The Grandparent Gang
Andrew, Grandpaa, Asher, Papaw
ready to blow
and........they're out
his Great-Grandpa Mac joined us also
6-3-15:  Got together with all the grandparents tonight at La Hacienda for Andrew's 8th birthday! Can't believe our baby is 8!! Seems like just yesterday David and I packed up one morning and drove to Wichita from Texarkana to be there for his birth! What a blessing this little guy has to been to so many lives!

Took a couple of shots of his cast because tomorrow he's getting it off!

6-4-15:  Had I known they were going to let him take it home with him, I prob wouldn't have taken those pix last night!

back side of Derby High Park with the wildflowers popping

nice to have this shady reprieve about halfway through

this pond at the park is home to many geese

this white goose hissed at me as I looked over the railing at her -- maybe nesting?
Got in a great walk today at Derby High Park.  The Cicadas were going strong!

 Texas grad - Taylor McClintock

Georgia grad - Onttuu Lindeman

Congrats to a couple of our family grads!

thx for the old SAU pic, Debbie White:  Can ya guess which one is me?
hint: short hair, stripes, front row, right side

Getting ready to head to Texarkana for about a month.  Here's hoping the Red River will be crossable when we head that way!

Prayers for Texas!

Dr. Grandpa, Kelly Kulick, and Dogaracter
