this man! |
We've just spent a little over a month in Texarkana. We're blessed that we are able to drop what we are doing and come here when needed. Thankful for the friends and family we were able to spend time with.

Rocky ready to head back to TX |
3-10-15: Hated to leave Mt. Locust a couple of weeks early, but feeling thankful that we could get to Texarkana to help Edith out. She fell in the dining room a few days ago and broke a couple of bones in her back. Hopefully, her facility will do something about the dining chairs that all have wheels on them!! Bless her heart. She toughed it out a few days, then went in the hospital on March 1. After a couple of days there, she was sent to rehab where they are helping her to get moving again.
glad to see Edith looking so well at Healthsouth |
Lisa took her a scandalous card ---- that all the nurses and doctors enjoyed |
3-11-15: College bestie, Lisa Seigel, visited her before we arrived and gave her the funniest card. Lisa always provides the laugh therapy!
Uncle Norman getting a mani |
3-12-15: Sadly, my cousins are all in Florida because of the death of Jim's 29 yr old son, William Harwood. While Janis is away from Texarkana, I visited my sweet Uncle Norman at the Magnolia House. I found him getting a mani! I love it when I walk in and he says, "Well, Becky Lee!". He has dimentia, so for him to remember what he called me as a kid (or remembers me at all) warms my heart!
He's always smiling |
Then we spent some time in his room and the lobby visiting. He remembers so many things, but forgets so many others. He is aware he has dimentia, but keeps a pretty good spirit about him. He's a very special man!
Tonight I enjoyed CWF at Antioch in Hooks. Love this group of ladies!
Macie and Dara at Manning's bday party |
3-13-15: I got to enjoy an evening at Tamolly's with family for Manning's 8th birthday. Love all these cute faces!

After spending all day in town running errands, this was a very nice break.
Donna Jo called David up to the front in church because he was wearing orange |
he's pretty excited |
3-15-15: David says he's never going back to ACC until Donna Jo is gone. LOL!
Rocky spent a lot of time watching out the window for me |
3-16-15: I'm pretty much staying at Edith's 24-7 now that she's home from rehab. It'll take her a little while before she's independent again. But she's a trooper! She's been wanting to go through her apt and weed things out for a few years now. At this point she's considering moving to assisted living, so she and I decided to go through things now while I'm here. Although it's bittersweet, it's been kinda fun. She has shared so many stories with me as she goes through things. She is such a strong, awesome woman. Truly an inspiration to women! So happy she's a part of our family.

Kathy and Candy Wright with Edith and Spice |
3-21-15: Enjoyed a short visit with Edith's nieces, Kathy and Candy. Edith decided to downsize into a smaller apt in the same bldg where she is. So we've been packing up --- and passing stuff on that she can't keep. Busy, busy, but it's so helpful when family and friends come in to pitch in! Unfortunately, they had to spend much of their quick trip in the ER with Candy -- pneumonia! We sure know how to show folks a good time!!
Laura Lee ready for the races |
my pretty girl |
One of Laura's bosses also owns a racecar and used to race with Paul Newman. I cracked up when Laura explained to David and me that Paul Newman was an old actor. I told her that'd be like her kids someday explaining to her who Brad Pitt was.

Edith and Marlee Kay -- Spice getting all riled up |
Marlee Kay and Nathan -- she's a daddy's girl |
3-28-15: Enjoyed a quick visit from Nathan and Marlee Kay today at Edith's. While Nathan and David moved a little furniture, Marlee Kay talked and talked to Edith and me. I've never heard her talk so much -- she's usually pretty quiet around me. She smiled the whole time she was there....... probably has something to do with having her Daddy all to herself!
as close to LEMS as I care to get at this point |
3-30-15: Delivered some things to Jakeb this morning at the Middle School. He met us outside because I didn't have time to go in and visit. Yeah, that's the ticket. I didn't have time to go in and visit. Love my peeps there, but I'm retired ........LOL!
4-1-15: Moving Day! David and I, along with Bill's Movers, moved Edith to her new apt this morning. She gave good orders and by the end of the day we had the new place looking like home sweet home!
Easter Sunday |
Edith still looks great even with a broken back |

4-6-15: Rocky turned 13 today!! He got to sit in the truck while we did some running around. Thankfully, he's still healthy and pretty frisky for an old guy.

Cranford's and Kathey's wisteria |
After Jakeb's bday pizza, we went to play Panties at Cranford's and Kathey's. They have trees full of wisteria right now. Smells great when walking up to the house!
smells as lovely as it looks |

we beat the guys by only 5 points! |
As you can see, Kathey and I clobbered the guys the first 2 hands. But they made a big comeback the last 3 hands. However, we still prevailed.........even if only by 5 points! That might be the closest game ever.

breast your cards, David!! |
the most important man in the world -- with the 2 most important women in the world |
4-8-15: Met Lisa for a late lunch today. We may not always get to do lunch, but when we do we make sure the most important man in the world is there!
it seems we must always make a different face |
Gus and me |
Made Gus do a little shopping with me today, too.

THX Kathy and Candy for the mani!! |
4-9-15: David took Edith and me for a mani this morning! She hasn't had one since she fell, so she was sooooo ready for one. And once we got her moved, I was sooooo ready for one! Thx Kathy and Candy Wright for the treat! Wish ya'll could've been here to join us!
shopping for glasses |
4-10-15: Went with David to pick up his glasses and I think I found myself some! What dya think?
Oakley actually made these for bikers who wanted them to fit around their mohawks. Kinda comfy.
But I left them at the store. I'll keep them in mind when I get a mohawk.
lunch with Edith at Cowhorn |
Edith is feeling like walking to the dining room again! So happy! Doesn't she look great? I have to say prayers over those rolling chairs, though! They make me nervous.

Thanks for the pic of my 2 babies, Lisa!!
proud parents of newly hatched eaglets |
Our PA eaglets hatched the end of March. I love checking in each day on Facebook to see how much they've grown.

After soccer, I met Sherry and Crystal at the playground where we did some catching up and watched Audrey and Jarrett play.........and took a little walk around the pond.
finally made it to Scotty's grill - yum! |
Casey Graves played the piano at Cowhorn this afternoon |
4-12-15: David and I went to ACC this morning where Cranford preached one of his best sermons ever! Aside from the "Mr. Stinky" sermon. Gonna miss this when we head out this week.
4-14-15: After an evening of saying our goodbye's (til June) to Edith and Gus, we rolled out of town this morning. Onward to Wichita!
Feeling Blessed!
